about

Distentio (2004) - Valerio Sannicandro

Distentio is the Latin word for “extension.” As we read from S. Agostinus, the perception of time is a process that starting from one point (the present, constantly moving) extends backwards (the memory of what previously happened) and forwards (the future, the will of making something happen). (Valerio Sannicandro)

Valerio Sannicandro (b.1971) was born in Italy, now based in Germany. Sannicandro studied composition with York Höller and Hans Zender, and studied conducting with Peter Eötvös.
